Born in South Central Los Angeles during times of segregation, integration, and civil unrest provided fertile soil for David's imaginative young mind.
With a working mother and no father at home, he raised himself amongst players, drug addicts, alcoholics, and the innocents who were unaware of the game.
Regularly found at the business end of a police revolver or shotgun, drunk, drugged, and delirious, he lived and appeared to thrive in this senseless environment.
He believes God brought him through these experiences to tell stories kindled in this urban milieu. He hopes this will stop some from following that path altogether, inspire others to escape that course, and allow outsiders to sense the futility that is inherent in many individual's lives.
